I suppose I should say...the User Account functions can be accessed through the "User Acct" icon at the top-right of the page.

It doesn't do much (yet!), but I have turned on the new User Accounts/Registration system. It's still in Beta Test, but don't let that scare you.

It really doesn't "do" anything yet. But now that it's there we can link it to the message board, user ratings of Bob pictures, that sort of thing.

Please try it out. Let us know if anything looks obviously broken. There are a few touch-ups we're alreaady aware of that need to be..touched up. Work shall proceed!

OK, I have brought the message board under the user registration umbrella. The orange names are messages written by registered users. I'll probably reconsider the color scheme some time when I haven't had any rum. Sue me, it's friday. :)

HOPEFULLY everything is working. I did mess up some of the message timestamps, but I got it fixed enough for government work.

Just so folks know, there is a list of stuff that isn't in place regarding user accounts. These are a few of those things:

- passwords are not case-sensitive but should be
- there is no 'delete dccount' function
- there is no 'change password' function
- there is no 'change email address' function
- there is no 'email my password to me' function

If anyone has suggestions for additional features, feel free to suggest them. Yeah, yeah, I'll look into the message board font.

Passwords are now case-sensitive.

User/Account name is NOT case-sensitive when logging in, but whatever case you originally type in during registration will be kept.

For example, I can log in as "lAsZlO" or "lASZLO", but I originally typed in "Laszlo" when I registered, so that's how it always appears. If I typed in "Fred" as my password, I cannot log in using "fred" or "frED". It must be "Fred".

Later we may add a way for folks to change the case of their account name. It should be pretty easy.

There is now a 'delete account' and an 'email my password' function, both on the user accounts page.

It's great! It seems working very well also.
You've been very quick this time!

Fortunately, this web site is so relatively small and non-critical, that adding stuff is often terribly simple. I'm the only developer, so I don't need any kind of version control, and all the coding is straight-through flat procedural stuff. I'm not bothering with a fancy class hierarchy; At least not for now.

UNfortunately...I'm having email problems with my private secret email address. Someone who has (had) it is allowing a virus use it in an attack on lots of third-party victims. So I'm spending much of today doubling-up my email security yet again.

Of course all my friends will have to update the addresses they have for me for about the fifth or sixth time. <ramble><gripe><whine>
