Hello everyone! I'm new to this website and I've been wanting to get a bob haircut but I have curly hair so I've been really hesitant on getting it. Would you all recommend that I straighten my hair before getting it? Anyone out there with curly hair and has a bob haircut??? What should I do? Any ideas or comments? Thanks!

:)

Hi honey. Sure you can get a Bob hairdo with curly hair, in fact they look darling. Ask for a stacked Bob haircut. It should be cut like a A line, shorter at the nape and tapers down to your jaw line. The stylists needs to use a setting lotion or gel and blow dry your hair with a diffuser. Lots of scrunching with her or his hand to get the Bob to stand out full. It's a very fem. and sexy style. Wish I could do it for you. Good luck,
Charlene

Hello, rubyserna...I just had my very curly hair cut into a chin length inverted bob, and when I say curly, I mean CURLS. I would never recommend using chemical straighteners on hair these days. There are SO many good, and even inexpensive, hair products, from shampoos and conditioners to all of the styling aids, that will help smooth out curly hair. I use a ceramic flat iron, one with little "teeth" that help straighten my hair more quickly than the standard type. I use any one of the "serum" type, clear gel like products, and that keeps the frizz from coming and my straight look looking glossy (just don't use too much of this stuff, as your hair will look artificial and greasy). My bob only takes ten minutes or less to straighten with my ceramic iron. On days when it's raining or I feel like a different look, I apply lots of gel and then, leaning over the sink, I pore water over my hair and scrunch the gel into the hair. Yes, some of the gel washes out, but that extra water with the gel really makes the curls come together, so I get a more curly, less frizzy look that lasts all day and longer. A book called "The Colored Girls Guide to Good Hair" taught me that trick, and it really works. So, curly or straight, the bob could work for you, and work for you well. Best of luck.
