Hello to all you bobbers out there!
I've just uploaded my first photo to this site 'Fibonacci Vectored My Bob' which Laszlo says might be in the next update (fingers crossed!)

Big deal right?

Difference is, I am male.

I have friends who jokingly say my hair is 'girly' but what the heck? I have never once been mistaken for female.
Women tend to either adore it, or hate it...well you can't please everyone, so my attitude is please yourself (it aint like a hairstyle is at anyone else's expense right?) I am not hurting anyone.

My point?

Throughout periods in history, The Bob has been the de rigueur hairstyle for men, which seems to have died a death during the 20-21st century. WHY?
(incidentally, the term 'handsome' was more often used in reference to an attractive female, whilst 'beautiful' would be used to describe men with particularly foppish clothes and excellent hair!) Funny how things change isn't it?

Generally speaking, the bob is looked on as being a purely female cut (I am certainly glad that many women agree!) however, it's more than likely that men wore their hair in this style long before women ever did.

From reading some posts here at this wonderful site and from talking to others who shall remain nameless...other men would love to go for a bob

So why don't you?

My hair was bobbed some years ago, I met a girl who hated it and, trying to keep everyone (her!) happy, I got it chopped. (Never again!)
I have just spent the last two years growing it back and got it bobbed today (11:00am 7th July 2005) and BOY does it feel good!

It has to be the ultimate hairstyle. Not just extremely good looking (particularly on the female head!) but manageable, flexible (slick it back/rough it up!) and a talking point! You want to stand out in a crowd of 'trendy' males who ALL have a short spikey cut?...get a BOB!

Any males reading who think they will get laughed at whilst out-and-about...think again. It just doesn't happen, though it takes a lot more confidence than walking around with a 'standard' short-back & sides.

As mentioned, some women hate it, but those who adore it... :)
One of the nicest sensations is having a woman slide her fingers through
your hair (something that can't be done with short-spikey & heavily gelled cuts.)

Rant over....!

Just for the record, and I don't think it has been mentioned within 'Bob Media' (this is for you Laszlo :)
You wanna see probably the coolest bobbed female on the face of the earth in a film that (in my opinion) blows the Matrix trilogy out of the water....then you need to see 'AVALON'

http://www.avalonthemovie.com/

Bobbed female from the start to the end (with some high technology thrown in for good measure!) What more could you want?

All the best to you all

You're right. She's cute. Nice hair! Somehow this works for me.

I had a lovely green and black Bob for more than four years. I loved it! Alas, my "job hunt" is coming up pretty quickly, my hair is thinning, and my forehead is getting higher so I can't do bangs anymore. It's very sad, but I've gone and grown my hair out long so it fits into a ponytail again.

About the web site update, I beg your continued forgiveness. Not only do Bob donations sometimes trickle in at a snail's pace, but I'm also very procrastinatory. Still, it's much, much easier to to the updates since I added all the new custom administrative tools, so it shouldn't be too long. There is no ETA, however. d'oh!

Ew!! I just noticed how everything is 'centered' when viewing this page in Internet Explorer. I so f-ing hate Internet Explorer. They really need to OBEY industry standards.

I'll put this on my list of things I have to fix specifically for Internet Explorer. Gah!!!

Hey Laszlo!
What a pleasant surprise...nice picture of 'Ash' :)
I was thinking of getting bangs or a fringe as we say here in the UK...(though 'Bangs' always sounded cooler to me!) Don't know if it would suit me though, maybe one day.
As for Internet Explorer...I stopped using that altogether.
My own machine is a Mac PowerBook (though I am often required to use a PC.) Safari, Mozilla and OmniWeb are my faves.
I know this is a bob worship site and I am rattling on about Internet technologies, but I had the same problem with my own site. Ran perfectly with ALL browsers I threw at it (including Opera, Camino etc, but opening up in IE caused my formating to go haywire.
Although I dont use it for browsing, it's essential (as you know) that a web site opens in any browser (including IE...bummer!!!)

Al the best, and looking forward to the updates

Hello, MaleBeBop,
This is a great board but you might also be interested in the group GuysWithBobs on Yahoo. The discussion isn't as good as Laszlo's board but there are lots of photos of bobs, pageboy cuts and variations on these. Your pictures would be MOST WELCOME! It's at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/guyswithbobs/

Hello jla1776,
I would post a picture but unfortunately no longer have my bob! Still long(ish) but got it cut around the ears. I graduated and needed to 'smarten up' for work (graphic design...dealing with clients etc.)

On a plus side it's easier to manage and I am no longer being called Willy Wonka! (Bonus!)

All the best

Oh, it's great to be back. I'm ecstatic.
Went self employed around a 18 months ago so no pressure to have my hair styled in any conventional/acceptable way. My new bob is coming along nicely (can't see my ears) and this time with fringe/bangs. I stick by my original post - the bob is the ultimate haircut. :o)
